Echo Livescribe Smart Pens

http://www.livescribe.com/en-us/education/learning.html#educators

This seems like an interesting bit of new technology! Now that we are seeing newer technology like SMARTboards more popularly in the classroom, i wonder if we will be seeing these pens in the future!

Fun Sites for Halloween!

I just googled fun halloween site and this was one of the first things to pop up! I thought it was so cute! You can click on almost everything and it will do something fun or scarrrryyy!!! BOO!!! I thought it could be really fun to do up on the smart board for the students (that is of course as long as your school isnt against halloween activities, because some are now a days...:( )

you know what i LOVE?

http://www.funbrain.com/index.html

this site is so much fun! there are tons of educational games on here, but my favorite are their mad libs! they are HILARIOUS! i went to this site with a 2nd grade student i was working with and she cracked up. it was great to get to see her laugh, because she was so shy. i think these would be a great way to introduce parts of speech to your classroom, and the kids just want to do them over and over again!

Two reading websites

kids.nypl.org click on link "Tumblebooks"

This has a link for read-alouds where the child can go to and follow along to a voice in their own book. it is courtesy of the New York Public Library. Very cool!

wegivebooks.org

this is a site you can sign up for and partner with an organization. Then you are able to view a picture book, preferrably read it to your class, and the website will then donate one book to a needy child on behalf of the organization that you partnered with.

teaching style survey

this survey does not apply to any of us in this class because none of us have students yet...so i dont understand why we had to take it.

http://www.longleaf.net/teachingstyle.html

the way it works would be good for a teacher to help themselves evaluate their teaching and to make necessary adjustments to their style

TPack and copyrighting laws

writing to come....

Voki and Odosketch

www.voki.com

voki is an online avatar creator that you can use to add your voice to. it would be a good classroom tool if you are using it for oral exams.

Blog: Freetech4teachers, and ToonDoo

This is a great blog to follow! i especially like a post they recently did about where to find copyright friendly images that you can use! it is so hard to find images that are okay to use for different purposes. this is a good blog to read for teachers!

freetech4teachers.com

Toon Doo is a site where students can go and create a comic strip with their own characters and dialogue. i think this would be a great site to use for students to do assessment projects, like creating a summary or their favorite scene of the book they just read...there are really alot of possibilities!

Wordle!

Wordle is an online word cloud generator. generally a word cloud is a jumble of words together, and the larger words demostrate the more frequently used, while the smaller words are the ones used less frequently. you can place your blog, or any site with an RSS feed (standardized blog publishing format).

here is the url link to the blog i made for teachers:

title="Wordle: the most important job in the world"> src="http://www.wordle.net/thumb/wrdl/2355091/the_most_important_job_in_the_world"

why?

So this semester i am taking a course about integrating technology and how to utilize it in my future classroom. Having a blog and writing in it every class is a required assignment. My professor will be giving me prompts when we meet for class and so my next post will be tomorrow morning.
